basked in the green glow of mercury vapor lights, is a monument
to an uprising of the Italian people against the rule of a
monarchy. Her inscription is below.
Its not important
who you are,
Man or Woman, young or old,
worker or peasant,
soldier, student or merchant.
Nor is it important what is your creed,
politics or religion.
All I ask is that you know that,
to humanity,
peace is first and always
the most important thing.
